Happy Hunger Games (Movie Watching!)

HAPPY HUNGER GAMES! The movie is FINALLY out. And yes, it has taken me this long to finally be able to calm down and type.

Now, I won't be releasing a full review 'til later. As always, I'll give everyone a chance to see it first! I've seen it twice so far and I DEFINITELY need to see it a couple more times! (Just to be thorough, you understand... ;) )

Let me know what you thought! Who saw it at midnight? I DID! :D Ok, so I will say this. It is AWESOME! And not as violent as the books. Ahhh! I'm gonna stop myself there.

P.S. Ok, so to all internet tech savvies: HELP ME! So i added the HG movie countdown widget to my previous post and for some reason it knocked everything from my sidebar to the very bottom of the page. It is  incredibly annoying. And ugly. I tried resetting, reofrmatting, and deleting. Nothing is working. Please, PLEASE, if any of you guys have any ideas as to what might be wrong or any ideas on how to fix it please let me know! I'd like to get this fixed ASAP!

HG Movie Soundtrack! The Decemberists Single-Taylor Swift

Legendary producer T. Bone Burnett has been working with a mix of musicians to create the soundtrack for "The Hunger Games" movie. The first single, a collaboration between Burnett, Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars titled "Safe and Sound," debuted Monday on iTunes and quickly became a top-10 hit.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne also collaborated with Burnett on songs for the film's soundtrack. The Decemberists contributed an original tune, "One Engine."

The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, a teen warrior in a post-apocalyptic America enlisted to fight other teens in a life-and-death television show called "The Hunger Games." It's based on Suzanne Collins' popular young adult novel, the first in a trilogy.

The teen theme makes Swift seem like a perfect fit, and early commenters on iTunes agree. The film is scheduled to come to screens in March 2012.

HG Movie Director (finally) Announced!

Here's some interesting HG news: The director of the HG movie has finally been announced. also THERE IS HG MOVIE CASTING NEWS. I know a LOT of you have been interested...

It’s already one of the most heated games in Hollywood and on the Web: speculating who will be cast in the coming film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” Today, the Lionsgate film studio signaled an official start to this contest, confirming to Speakeasy that casting director Debra Zane has been hired to flesh out the novel’s dystopian world for the screen. In author Suzanne Collins’s best-selling trilogy of futuristic youth fiction, the studio hopes it has the makings of a “Twilight”-size franchise.

In summing up Zane’s strengths, the studio also laid out the challenge the casting director faces with “Hunger Games.” That is, casting “the people you imagined [as the characters] but not the ones you expected,” says Alli Shearmur, president of motion picture production for Lionsgate.

Zane is a Hollywood veteran whose resume includes “Twilight: Breaking Dawn,” the coming two-part finale to the vampire juggernaut. Having worked with “Hunger Games” director Gary Ross previously on films such as “Seabiscuit” and “Pleasantville,” she was widely expected to get the job.

For “Hunger Games,” Zane’s task is to people a post-apocalyptic America where an authoritarian government runs a contest that’s part reality TV, part gladiatorial death match. The twist: the contestants picked by lottery are children. The most closely watched role is that of 16-year-old heroine Katniss Everdeen, a gray-eyed archer who volunteers for the bloodsport to spare her sister.

The filmmakers, including Ross and producer Nina Jacobson, have said they’re open to casting actors who are unknown (a relative term) in the lead roles. Shearmur says, “The movie-star elements of the franchise are the books and the characters Suzanne Collins created.” But don’t expect Zane to conduct an “American Idol” style cattle call. Instead, she’ll likely use professional channels to cast a wide net. The stated goal: creating a level playing field for candidates ranging from, say, a promising young theater actor to an emerging screen star, such as 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld, whose “Hunger Games” stock has shot up since she anchored the hit “True Grit.”

Shearmur emphasizes that no actors have auditioned yet, but fans and bloggers have been speculating on the casting process for months. And many have launched online campaigns on behalf of the actors they think embody the characters as they imagine them. For instance, the site Reelz Channel recently launched a poll encompassing not just the handful of lead roles, but also a dozen other characters in the book.

“There is this fan ardor and frankly good ideas that you don’t want to discount. We’re definitely paying attention to it,” Shearmur says.

Whoo hoo! YESSS! Come on people, dance, rejoice! The HG Movie production is FINALLY underway! AND their open to UNKNOWN TALENT!!! :D

What I'm "Thank-full" For...

Hey Everyone,

As is my own personal tradition, this time of year I like to come up with a list of all the things I'm grateful for. And do you know what was in my top 5? You guessed it! The Hunger Games (and all that it's related to).

Now I know, I know some of you less enthusiastic people (= anyone NOT completely obsessed with the HG series) might be wondering what in the world HG is doing in my top 5 slot of What I’m “Thank-full” For In 2010 list. Well, I’ll tell you. The Hunger Games are amazing. They really are, they’re definitely one of the best book series I’ve ever read (and probably ever will). And if you’re here reading this you probably agree.

So I would just like to encourage you this Thanksgiving to create your OWN list of What I’m “Thank-full” For In 2010. HG doesn’t have to be in your top 5, but I would encourage you to put it somewhere on the list! :) Even if you don’t live here in the US or you don’t recognize it, being thankful never hurt anyone. ..

Katniss Canidates! Katnidates?

Hello!

It seems that things are going well for the HG movie, the script is finished, and certain actors are receiving scripts... Who are these actors? (Or should I say actresses?) Let's find out..:

Okay. NOW for the Katnisdates...

Actresses Lyndsy Fonesca

and Kaya Scodelario

have expressed interest in the film and received scripts in October 2010.

Also, Chloe Moretz,

Malese Jow,

and Jodelle Ferland 

are also interested in the role of Katniss.

Ok, now let's go take a look at them.

Lyndsy Fonesca-Age: Good, Looks: Good. Everything Else: Good

Kaya Scodelario-Age: Good, Looks: Okay. Everything Else: Fail. There are pics of her smoking, giving the finger, and other undesirable actions. Not that I believe that this will hamper her acting abilities. (Well, some of it might.) But I just don't like her, I don't want HER as the face of The Hunger Games.

Chloe Mortez-Age: Fail. She 13. And she looks like it too. Maybe she can audition as Prim? NOT Katniss. Looks: Another fail. Katniss needs to be dark, tall(ish), and slender. Everything Else: Well she's 13 and looks nothing like Katniss. Do I really need to continue?

Malese Jow: Age: Good, Looks: Okay, Everything Else: Ok, now Malese's voice. Have any of you heard it? It's awful. And the way she acts, almost like Miranda Cosgrove. She also doesn't seem to have done any real in depth acting. Mostly just Nickelodeon.Katniss needs to be played by someone with depth and intensity. I'm sorry but I don't think that Malese will be able to pull that off. That along with her voice? Fail.

And last but not least, Jodelle Ferland: Age: Perfect. (She's 16), Looks: Good but she looks a little young. Katniss was very mature for her age and Jodelle doesn't look "aged beyond her years", Everything Else: I'm just not sure that Jodelle has the intensity required for the part. I don't know, she might suprise us!

Yeah, so there you have it the official Katnidates that we have so far.

HGM News

Hey,
Ok so here's the latest on the HG movie. (From here forward to be referred to as HGM. ;D)
As we all know, Lionsgate Entertainment has acquired worldwide distribution rights to The Hunger Games, which will be produced by Nina Jacobson's production company Color Force
Suzanne Collins has adapted the novel for film herself, and her script is being revised by screenwriter Billy Ray.     
It is anticipated to have a PG-13 rating.Alli Shearmur, Lionsgate President of Motion Picture Production, and Jim Miller, Lionsgate Senior Vice President of Motion Picture Production, will be in charge of overseeing the production of the movie. Here is a quote by Shearmur:      
"The Hunger Games is an incredible property and it is a thrill to bring it home to Lionsgate. This is exactly the kind of movie I came to Lionsgate to make: youthful, exciting, smart and edgy. We are looking forward to working with Nina and Suzanne to create a movie that satisfies audiences' hunger for high-quality entertainment."

Things are moving quite nicely and seem to be coming along well. I'm so excited for the movie! :D

The HG Movie Fever Is Catching!

Hey everyone,

It seems that the Hunger Games movie fever is being spread around! I'm seeing more and more fanmade dream casts and there's even one by a notable magazine. Check in for that tomorrow. I will have their suggestions posted by tomorrow. ;)

Ok, I have news for you people. This blog is now part of The Hunger Games Fan Alliance! 

It's kind of like the Twilight one but ours has been formed BEFORE the movie has come out which will allow us all to get exclusive interviews and info as the movie is made!

Well, that "forever" is almost here! Hooray! Congrats to all of you who hung on and are now waiting with baited breath along with me! Thanks! Our EXTREMELY long wait is almost at an end!

Mockingjay and Spain

Ok, so I just heard a rumor...A horrible one. Concerning Mockingjay! What else? I was told by a friend who lives in Spain that the rain stays mainly in the plain. (Ok, only those of you who have seen "My Fair Lady" got that. Everyone else probably thinks I'm insane. ;D ) No, she lives in Spain and she was telling me that we are so lucky since we get Mockingjay in August. I was kinda like "Wha? Don't you get it in August too?" Nope. they don't they get it until....are you ready for this?

JANUARY 2011!!!

OMG! Is that depressing or what? JANUARY! Now I don't feel so bad about waiting until August...

That's horrible, I'm sorry! Shout out to EVERYONE who has to wait longer then I do for it! My heart goes out to you! I'll can email it to you guys I guess...(Is that legal?) Idk, but it's better then waiting! (As long as it's legal of course.) ;D

And for the rest of us who only have to wait another 95 days. (Yes, i did say ONLY.) They have to wait around 100 days more! AHHHH! Be strong! It will be out before you know it!

Peeta's Song. Gale's Song. Not in that order.

Hi!

These are just some random songs that I was listening to that I believe captured Peeta and Gale's "plight" perfectly. Enjoy! And EMAIL ME any suggestions that you might have! ;D I'm open to all suggestions for ANY character!

Let's start with Gale:

I believe that this song captured Gale's internal battle within himself. He knows that he shouldn't love Katniss. She has to be in love with Peeta. He if tells her he loves her,(which he kinda did with the kiss) then it will only create controversial feelings, (which it did). But Gale decides that he just can't just sit and watch it all play out. (Pun slightly intended ;P) So he goes out and tries to in her. Does he succeed? I guess we'll find out in Mockingjay! 

(Gawsh, the wait is literally KILLING me! Only 106 days left though! Can I even cheer? That's still 106 DAYS LEFT! Well, it's better then 140 days, right?)

Now for Peeta's song:

That was a lot of lyrics. yes, it was. But as you read it that is SO Peeta! He wants Katniss to pick him. (Not Gale. ;P) And he will do ANYTHING to make her happy. "He'd rather die then make her sad..." Yupp, that's SO Peeta!! REentering the Games for her. That's DEFINITELY putting your life on the line! :D No really! It is!
